In Pabna a daylong training program on Social Audit was organized by SUPRO district committee on 28th September 2013 for grass root campaigners and civil society representatives where Ms. Nasima Aktar presented as Chair and program was inaugurated by Pabna Sadar Upazila vice Chair Samsunnaher Rekha. The training session was conducted by Md. Moazzem Hossain, Associate Coordinator, SUPRO and SUPRO Pabna district secretary M A Salam delivered greetings speech. SUPRO District Committee members, NGO representatives, media personnel’s, civil society representatives, students participated in this training program.
SUPRO Comilla District Committee organized a daylong training workshop with LGI’s representatives on 12th October 2013 at Aparajita Conference Hall in Comilla on Participatory Budget Preparation and role of local governments. ADC (revenue) Md. Abdul Motin attended in this program as chief guest. Commilla District Secretary and Executive Director of Dorpon Md. Mahabub Morshed facilitated the program. In this training workshop LGI’s representatives from Upazila, Municipality, City Corporation and Union Parishad were proactively participated. LGI’s representatives expressed their ideas related to budgetary process and provide their valuable suggestions regarding participatory budget formulation. They also noticed that without strong local government it’s quite impossible to formulate participatory district budget.
Sushasoner Jonny Procharavizan-SUPRO is a national network working to ensure economic justice in all level through promoting institutional accountability. As per SUPRO plan, social audit/performance monitoring is one of the key components. To do the task properly, SUPRO organized a three days training on Social Audit/performance monitoring for the District Focal as well as District Campaign Facilitator on April 21-23, 2010 at Come to Work Training Centre, Parbotipur, Dinajpur where 34 Participants (Male-22 & Female-13) of 20 districts attended in which 12 were District Focal Persons, 20 are District Campaign Facilitators & rest 2 were the district representatives. The sessions were facilitated by Mohammad Shahid Ullah-Deputy Director, Qumrunnessa Nazly-Coordinator, Iqbal Uddin-Associate Coordinator, Sara Zaman-Associate Coordinator & Kazi Shafiqur Rahman-Program Officer.

Day-1, April 21, 2010
The training was started at 9:30 AM on April 21, 2010 at Come to Work Training Centre, Dinajpur through an inauguration session facilitated by Program Officer Kazi Shafiqur Rahman. Monju Rani Pramanik honorable EC member, Matiur Rahman, Md. Abdus Salam , Hosneara Hasi, Daizy Ahmed & Lalit Se Chakma honorable NC members gave inauguration speech where Mohammad Shahid Ullah Deputy Director, SUPRO also attended. After the inauguration session, all the participants were introduced formally.
The first formal session was on `what is social audit & why? Type, rationality, techniques, positivism & limitations of social audit ’.facilitated by Mohammad Shahid Ullah. Through multi-media presentation, the definition of social audit, its types, techniques, limitations & positivism were discussed. After the tea break the next session was started playing two documentaries on social audit regarding Indian experience on social audit. Md. Iqbal Uddin facilitated the session. After the session a group work was held on the documentaries dividing into four groups. Before launch four groups presented their presentation focusing the social auditing issues what they had observed through the documentaries.
After launch another session was facilitated by Qumrunnessa Nazly on ` Social Audit & SUPRO, The objectives, importance & rationality of social audit in health & education sector’ Through a multi-media presentation, she discussed the objectives, importance & rationality of social audit considering SUPRO perspective. She presented the plan of SUPRO regarding Social audit/performance monitoring. After tea break Qumrunnessa Nazly & Sara Zaman jointly facilitated the session on `Working area of health audit, its step & data collecting methods’. In this session, all the participants worked with four individual groups. They discussed all the techniques of data collection including questionnaires review. After completing the group work, group leaders presented their group wise presentation. Finally the sessions for the day-1 were concluded at 7:30 PM through recapping all the sessions of day-1.
Day-2, April 22, 2010
The first session of Day-2 was started at 9:30 AM through welcoming all. A short session was held only for briefing the guideline of the field work. According to the plan, four individual health centers Upazila Health Complex, Union health centre, Union Family Planning Centre & Community Clinic were visited from 10 AM to 1:30 PM to see the real situation considering auditing perspective. Four individual groups visited the health centers headed by a group leader where honorable NC members were involved as the advisor. After launch at 3:00 PM, all the group leaders presented their finding on field visit on behalf of their own group. Through the field visit, various limitations of health sector could be found on which the design of social audit has been finalized. After tea break, another session was started on ` Social audit on primary education, its working area, step of auditing & data collecting methods’ facilitated by Qumrunnessa Nazly. Through the group discussion, the total process of social audit on primary education has been finalized. At 7:00 PM the formal session of Day-2 was concluded through recapping all the sessions of Day-2.
Day-3, April 23, 2010
The first session of Day-3 as well as the last day was started at 9:30 AM on `Data analysis & report writing’ facilitated by Kazi Shafiqur Rahman. In this session the process of data analysis, type of analysis & process of report writing were discussed. After this session an over all discu ssion on social audit was held facilitated by M A Quader, honorable General Secretary, SUPRO. In this session General Secretary, SUPRO discussed various aspects of social audit using practical examples highlighting the positivism & challenges of social audit. After this session an open discussion related project activities was held where District Campaign Facilitators mainly raised some questions & honorable General Secretary, SUPRO provided answer. After ending this session a short session was conducted on `Financial Operational System’ facilitated by Md. Seraj Uddin. He mainly discussed on financial operation of the project. Before launch, the training was formally concluded through a formal discussion presided over by Md. Harun-or-Rashid Lal, Honorable Vice-Chairman, SUPRO. Moderated by General Secretary, SUPRO, Md. Matiur Rahman, NC member SUPRO and Uma Chowdhury, Director delivered their speech in that session. Finally the president of that session concluded the session by giving thanks to all the participants and organizers to organize the successful training.
Evaluation of the training:
At the end of the training, an evaluation has been conducted where 29 participants participated & provided their opinion through structured format. The first part of the format was on individual’s /NGOs role and responsibilities regarding social audit where most of the participants have committed that the learning of this training would be shared with relevant stakeholders & they would involve themselves to do the task properly. And the second part of the evaluation format was on the facilitation skills of the facilitators on specific subjects where the participants have commented that delivery of presentation and facilitation skill as well as explanation on subject matter was clearly provided to the participants. In third part, the participant was asked to give feed back on three good sides as well as three negative aspects of the training where most of the participants commented as bellow: Good sides: i) The training was really effective & the issue of the training is very much important. ii) The presentation skill of the facilitators was fantastic which could make the theme easy to understand. Negative aspects: i) Session duration was not so long as much as need. ii) Accommodation facilities were cooperatively consisted rather than others facilities .
Cultural event was one of the attractive parts of the training. During the breaking period of the training, the participants as well as the facilitators sang songs, presented jokes etc. During the training period, every night after dinner cultural events were organized where all the participants participated actively.
On April 23, 2010, after concluding the training, a sight seeing was organized. All of the participants visited Sopnopuri and enjoyed few happy moments.
