img 1SUPRO organized a Press conference on 10 December 2014 at Extension Hall of Dhaka Reporters Unity, Segunbacigha, Dhaka on the eve of International Human Rights Day 2014 in front of Journalists of electronic and print media along with the theme "Ensure Human Rights and Ensure Prosperity" with particular focus on "Peace, Security and Democracy; and Gender Justice, Violence against Women and Trafficking in Women and Children".

Bibhash Chakraborty, Country Program Manager of SaferWorld, SUPRO NC Member Sharifa Khatun and director Alison Subrata Baroi were presented in the conference along with other representatives of print and electronic media, Dhaka Campaign Group, Budget Alliance Group, Civil Society and SUPRO secretariat staff etc. SUPRO Campaign Coordinator Shakera Nahar welcomes the journalists and Associate Coordinator-Networking & Mobilization Dil Afrose Duetee presented the Key note paper. Total 55 numbers of participants were there among them 35 were male and 20 were female.

On the other hand in 45 districts, International Human Rights Day 2014 was observed through arranging series of programs including human chain, discussion meeting, rally etc. More than 1800 representatives from all works of life including government officials, NGO’s, CSO’s, journalists and students participated in the day observation and express solidarity with the theme of International Human Rights Day 2014.

img 1Speakers express above statement in a discussion of a side event on tax justice issue in titled ‘Bangladesh Experiences: Promoting Tax Justice and Regional Collaboration and Networking’ under the theme of Market, Economy & Fiscal Justice on People’s SAARC, a huge civil society gathering of South Asia on the eve of upcoming SAARC Summit, organized by Campaign for Good Governance (SUPRO), a national platform of grassroots organizations in Bangladesh on 23 November 2014, at Women Development Training Association (WDTA) Sava Hall, Jawalakhel, Kathmandu, Nepal.

Representatives of CSOs, NGOs and activists from Nepal, Bangladesh and India were presented and shared their experiences and pay their solidarity on the issue discussed. Abdul Awal, Executive Board Member of SUPRO presented keynote paper where SM Harun Or Rashid Lal, National Council Member of SUPRO presided over the discussion meeting.  Chairperson of SUPRO , Mustafizur Rahman Khan and three National Council Members of SUPRO (Shamima Akter, Monju Rani Pramanik and Lalit C Chakma)  were present there.  Sujita Shakya, a activist from Nepal, Member of CPN (UML), International Dept. & CCM and Sudha Reddy, Director of EFSA, from India were as Panelist.

img 1In the eve of world food day 2014 SUPRO participated in global week of action of Reclaim Power Global Week of Action on Energy from 10 to 18 October 2014. As part of the Global Week of Action and to observe International Food Day on 16 October 2014, SUPRO organized a Human Chain and attended in a public gathering which is organized by Anti-poverty Platform at National Shahid Minar, Dhaka.

With the campaign theme “Ban Use of Agrofuels, Right to Food is Human Right” Dhaka Campaign Group, Budget Alliance Group, Student’s Forum, SUPRO staffs and mass people were participated in the human chain. Among the total 52 participants 25 were male and 27 were female. After the Human Chain, SUPRO expresses their solidarity with ‘Countrywide Right to Food Campaign’ organized by `South Asia Right to Food-SARF and joined a Rally with more than 3000 activists on behalf of 80 national and international organizations/networks.
