SUPRO-Campaign for Good Governance started its mission of Budget Campaign for Pro-poor, decentralized and participatory district budget since 2003. Last one decade, SUPRO has popularized the issue to the grassroots people and made them sensitized through various interventions both at national and district level. Now SUPRO is working in 45 districts in Bangladesh with 600 more networking members and has made strong demands of district budget through raising grassroots voices. To lead this movement, SUPRO has initiated various capacity building activities for both individual and institution.
As a part of this capacity building initiatives, SUPRO organized district level training workshop for Local Government Representatives at Jhenaidah on14 September 2013 accordingly.
In Jhenaidah district a brief power point presentation was presented by Md. Shariful Islam, Coordinator- Training & Capacity Building of SUPRO. Md.Shohidul Islam Sikder chairman of 13 no Furshiddoh Union perished, Jhenaidah was chief guest in there.
Sensitizing on budgetary issues and make them accountable to people, SUPRO organized training workshops for local government representatives at districts levels on Participatory Budget Formulation where LGIs representatives from Upazila, Municipality, City Corporation and Union Perished pro actively participated. The participants have been sensitized on decentralized and participatory budget and developed their capacity on how to prepare decentralized budget through this training workshop. LGIs representatives also expressed their ideas, learning and experience in relation with budgetary issues and provided their suggestions regarding participatory and decentralized budget formulation.
