SUPRO Plan: 2002-2007

During the first quarter of 2002 according to the decision from national council a small committee (Mustafizur Rahman – Swaunnayan, Swapan Paul – SUS, Rezaul K Chowdhury – COAST) have had formed and who drafted this five year plan, later which have had approved in national council (the then national working committee) during April 2002. In view of vision, mission and strategies major objectives of the plan are to develop local level capacities with micro macro linkages. The committee empowered the secretary to negotiate with partners for funding for part of full of the plan. Component wise objectives and probable impact are as follows:

1. Education for institutionalization of Democracy

 

 

 

 

To raise awareness on democratic culture

 

 

 

 

 

1.1 Mass people, mid level political activist and group member of NGOs will raise question to political leaders

1.2 Communal violence will be decreased, especially post election social disaster will be decreased and the inherent positive social forces will raise and national consensus will be established

 

2. Advocacy for changing behaviour and policy

 

 

 

 

 

 

Conducting policy advocacy for establishing decentralized administration, autonomous local government and peoples movement for democratic party culture and awareness on WTO.

 

 

 

 

2.1 People’s consciousness will be raised on autonomous local government and decentralized administration

2.2 Central Policy makers will take step to establish decentralized and responsible local government

2.3 Mid level activist will create pressure to establish democratic party culture

2.4 People’s awareness will be increased on free and fair trade

 

3. Building relationship between NGO and political leaders for good governance

 

To build up good relationship between local level NGOs, political leaders and especially to MPs for establishing good governance

 

3.1 Intensive dialogue will be started between NGO and policy makers on local governance

3.2 NGO activities will be more transparent and participatory towards local civil society and political leaders

4. Increase access of poor people in local government

 

 

 

 

Establishing pro poor power structure in local government

 

 

 

 

4.1 Poor people and NGO group members will be more elected in local election

4.2 Leaders of local government will be more pro poor

4.3 Allocation of resources for poor will be increased in local government

 

5. Election Monitoring through people’s participatory process

 

 

 

To raise awareness of mass people, civil society members in a view to finding out strategies for free and fair election monitoring.

 

 

5.1 Involvement of non partisan civil society will be increased for ensuring free and fair election at local level

5.2 NGOs non partisan involvement will be increased for free and fair election at national level

 

6. Capacity Building for grass root NGOs

 

 

 

To build capacity of local NGOs so that they will be able to integrate Right Based Approach with their program

 

 

6.1 Grass root NGOs will conduct such activities with poor people so that their legitimate demand and right will be established

6.2 Local level NGO alliance will be established for development and mutual learning
