RTI Training Workshop


SUPRO has successfully conducted on RTI training workshop
hopecenter1.jpgSUPRO has been organized a day-long RTI training workshop at the conference room of Hope Foundation, Baroipara, Saver on 25 July, 2009. The training workshop was attended by senior person of the districts level focal organization and Upazilla level focal points of Promoting Access to Information for Greater Participation and Government Accountability- PAI project. The training workshop has been inaugurated by Ms. Uma Chowdhury, Director of SUPRO. Ms. Tahmina Rahman, Director of A-19 has facilitated the training. Besides, Mr. Salim Ahmed Parvez was a guest facilitator for FGD findings presentation on Krishi Tathay Konika.

Objective of the training workshop:  The objectives of the training workshop are as follows:

  • To increase the level of Knowledge on RTI law;
  • To share of previous field experience of mobilization activities;
  • To develop a action plan for next intervention;
  • To provide detailed orientation on approaching to the public official’s sensitization meeting.

Participants of the Workshops: The target audience of the workshop is senior persons of districts level focal organization and Upazilla level focal points. Total 20 upazilla focal points and 16 senior persons of districts level focal organization, SUPRO Director and PAI project staff, Director of ARTICLE 19 Bangladesh and other staff are participated in the workshop. The respective district and organization are Barguna-Jago Nari, Barishal-Speed Trust, Patuakhali-Adorsho Mohila Samity, Pirojpur-Royal Bengal Foundation, Noakhali-Pran, Laxmipur-CWDA, Comilla-Darpan, Feni-Feni Human Development Foundation, Khulna-Nobolok, Bagerhat-Bandhon, Satkhira-Sawdesh, Jhinaidah-WE, Rajshahi-Shaw Unnayan, Bagura-PAVE, Kurigram-Solidarity, Sirajgonj-Sharp, Dinajpur-Come to Work, Pabna-PPS, Mymensing-VOICE and Netrokona-Sabalamby Unnayan Samity.

Training session
Ms. Tahmina Rahman, Director of A-19 has facilitated the training workshop on Rights to information. She has been provided the information on RTI gazette and legal analysis of the act. At the morning session Ms. Rahman get feedback from participant on previous grassroots activities on PAI project that was implemented by Jan-March quarter. The participants have been divided by 7 groups. They work on RTI gazette in specific sections and articles of the gazette. They analyzed on International principles and standard of RTI. The groups have presented their group work and analyzed principles of the act on maximum disclosure, routine pro-active disclosure and limited regime of exceptions, precedence, process, cost, information commission and whistleblowers. After their presentation detailed feed back has been provided to each group.

Mr. Salim Ahmed Parvez, who has been working with the SUPRO selected consultant Dr. Mahbub Pial on Krishi Tathay Konika. At the last session of day, Mr. Parvez has been presented FGD findings that were collected from Rajshahi on land and agriculture. After findings sharing he has been requested to participant to send feedback for further development as per information needed of rural farmers.

The training on RTI was ended with a vote of thanks to and from the Director of SUPRO and Director of A-19 with an urge to proper implementation of project activities.
