Lobby Meeting with MPs on Upcoming National Budget 2012-13
SUPRO organized Dinner Meeting with Members of Parliament to share its budget demands from grassroots held on 3 June 2012 at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla, Dhaka, Bangladesh. 13 MPs from different constituencies were attended the dinner meeting where Honorable Deputy Speaker of National Parliament Col. Shawkat Ali was as the Chief Guest.On the occasion SUPRO representatives and the MPs got together and turned the meeting into an interactive discussion with their opinion and commitment on the budgetary issues raised by SUPRO. The meeting was started by welcome speech of M A Quader, General Secretary of SUPRO. He also moderated the meeting. 
To bring attention of the people’s representatives on the grassroots budget demands, SUPRO provided the MPs with a set of papers on demands for inclusion in the coming budget 2012-13. SUPRO highlighted its major demands on formulating proposed district budget, reducing VAT instead of direct tax by reforming tax system of Bangladesh, making national budget pro people, some of which are general in nature and some are region specific such as, making the budget-process decentralized, ensure active participation of MPs and parliamentary standing committees in the process, increase subsidy in agriculture, introduce agri insurance for farmers, take special measurers on food security of haor areas, establish agriculture based industries locally, take special measurers for regionally and geographically deprived areas like, hill tracks, char and coastal areas.

S K Baker MP, Abdul Mojid Khan MP, Fazle Hossain Badsha MP, Nahim Razzak MP, Zunaid Ahmed Polok MP, Principal Motiur Rahman MP and Md. Abdur Rahman MPFrom SUPRO National Council Mustafizur Rahman Khan from Rajshahi, Motiur Rahman from Dinajpur, M.A.Salam from Pabna, Daizy Ahmed from Natore, Sharifa Khatun from Jhenaidah, Shamima Akter Munmun from Rajbari and Executive Board member K.G.M Faruque from Bogra, Mujibur Rahman, Treasurer and M. A. Kader, General Secretary attended the meeting.
