All anti-tobacco alliance created a Human Chain against ‘Devi’ Movie broadcasting for breaching tobacco control law in front of National Press club on December 11, 2018. About 18 anti-tobacco alliance with 100 activists participated in the program. The organizations includes Campaign for Good Governance (SUPRO), National heart foundation, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, ACD, YPSA, Bureau of Economic Research, WBB Trust, BATA, NATAB, PROTTASHA,TCRC, TABINAZ, BATA, Gram Bangla Unnayan Committee, BCCP, AID Foundation, PROGGA and others are participated at the Chain. The participant spokesmen from different organizations exclaimed with criticism for broadcasting smoking scenes in government funded ‘DEBI’ movie for breaching the tobacco control law 2005.They demanded to stop the broadcasting of the movie immediately. They also invited actors of the movies, theatre, and drama to abstain from those types of movie which promotes smoking.
After the human chain the representatives of alliance group submitted the memorandum to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Information ministry.
