The National Dialogue program demanding Withdrawal of Government Shares from British American Tobacco for gradually implement a Tobacco Free Bangladesh by 2040 declared by Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, held on 30 January 2020 at 11.00 am at CIRDAP Auditorium, Dhaka.
The Dialogue Program was presided and moderated by SUPRO's Chairperson Mr. Abdul Awal. Honorable Deputy Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament, Adv. Fazle Rabbi Mia, MP, was present as Chief Guest. Among others, Mr. Manoranjan Shil Gopal, Hon’ble MP, Dianjpur-1, Adv. Khodeja Nasrin Akter Hossen , Hon’ble MP, Women Seat-40, Former Chief Information Commissioner, Professor D. Golam Rahman, Eminent Journalist and Former President of Bangladesh Federal Journalist Union (BFUJ) Mr. Monzurul Ahsan Bulbul, eminent Journalist and Editor of Daily Bhorer Kagoj, Mr. Shymol Dutta, Eminent Journalist and Chief Editor of GTV, Mr. Syed Isteak Reza was present as special Guests.
On 16th September 2019, Sushasoner Jonny Procharavizan (SUPRO) and OXFAM urged the government to ensure equality in tax Management in terms of rationalizing direct tax and indirect tax ratio on the occasion of National Income Tax Day.' SUPRO’ General Secretary Mozibur Rahman commenced the program in a welcome speech. SUPRO Chairperson Abdul Awal Chaired the event and Planning Minister M A Mannan was the chief guest. Former National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Mohammad Abdul Mazid, renowned economist Dr. Mahabubul Mokaddem Akash, Associate Editor of Daily Prothom Alo Mr. Abdul Quaium, Policy, Advocacy, Campaign and Communications Manager of OXFAM Mr. S M Monjur Rashid and SUPRO representatives from 45 districts were also present among others.
Shushashoner Jonno Procharavijan (SUPRO) is a network of local NGOs and CSOs to promote right based approach and campaign for good governance and economic justice organized Citizen’s Dialogue ahead of the national budget for FY 2019-20. SUPRO organised the programme at BMA auditorium at Topkhana Road where former governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB) Dr Atiur Rahman addressed the programme as the key discussant.
